TEC - Dubai Future Skills Program (Maharati+)
From discovery workshop to a live national upskilling platform

The Executive Council (TEC) and KHDA set out to build a national upskilling platform for UAE talent – a single destination where Emiratis could discover in-demand skills, learn from leading institutions and companies (IBM, PwC, Microsoft, and more), and get recognised for what they learned. I facilitated the UX discovery workshop that shaped the platform's foundation, then carried that thinking into the design of Maharati+ itself – from its first-touch skills quiz on the homepage through course discovery, filtering, and detailed course pages built for both learners and training providers.
Government upskilling initiatives in the region were fragmented – course information scattered across training providers, hard to compare, and disconnected from any single trusted source. TEC and KHDA needed one platform to unify supply (training providers, government partners) and demand (Emirati jobseekers and employees) without becoming just another course directory nobody trusted.

A structured discovery workshop aligned TEC and KHDA stakeholders around one prioritized set of goals, mapped distinct user groups, and built personas and end-to-end journeys before a single screen was designed. That grounding shaped a platform built around trust signals (Emirates ID verification, partner logos, in-demand skills data) and personalization – a short quiz tailoring recommendations from the first visit.
